Have you checked out Voter's Edge yet to help you make a decision on San Carlos City Council and the many other elections and ballot measures at stake?
30-40% of registered San Carlan voters won't even bother to participate in our Constitutional, Representative Republic (we don't live in a Democracy).
If you don't normally vote, please take a moment to click on this link and enter your street address and zip code, which will tee up candidate comparisons of education, experience, endorsements, and the video candidate forums that we participated in.
In fact, once your ballot choices are pulled up, I'd welcome ANY San Carlos voters to please CALL ME if have any questions about the City of San Carlos, issues that you're concerned about, and how my candidacy is your best choice.
Thank you,

I would respectfully disagree with the Fields endorsement. There are a couple of members on Council and several on the various commissions that appear to be rooting against San Mateo on various issues facing the city. These representatives seem to prefer that the State hand us mandates versus listening to the residents and working with the State to best meet the needs of our community. Fields seems to fit this line of thinking.
In addition, Rob Newsom was asked by the residents to run, I am unclear on the reasoning for the other two district three candidates, besides their own desire to run in district three.
Regarding the selection of the fourth new Councilmember to replace Councilwoman Papan when she moves up to the State Assembly, it would appear there would be a 2-2 tie and Council Member Lee will be in a similar position Papan when Lee was appointed a couple years ago. Papan could have unilaterally chosen Maureen Freschet’s (supports Rob Newsom) replacement, but Diane showed restraint and made sure the entire Council voted on the appointment. I do not feel Lee can exercise similar restraint and will have no reservation in unilaterally making an appointment of her choosing, completely ignoring the feedback of Rod Linhares and Lisa Diaz Nash.
Fields claims to be for the parks, but at the December 2021 meeting, indicated she would be open to a proximity-based approach over the current standard of 2 acres of park per 1,000 residents. We are roughly in compliance with the current standard, with 200+ acres of park space. This does how ever include the Golf Course and open space at Sugar Loaf. I would question whether these two spaces should be included in the calculation since a lot of the space is not useable. My gut tells me this proximity-based approach is the first step in converting the Golf Course into another use, something the residents have repeatedly been against.
An endorsement of Fields appears to be an endorsement of the status quo and an even further division of our city.
I'm running for "Safer Streets" 1) less crime, and 2) safer pathways to school and work for pedestrians and bicyclists. www.alexkent.org San Carlos City Council candidate forum from last night here:

The SM Daily Journal is local and lovable, but biased.
I'd encourage you to follow their endorsements if you LOVE being dictated to by Sacramento and Big Gov't. That means massive overdevelopment and ever-increasing taxes in San Carlos - thanks to the existing City Council, which includes Adam Rak and Sara McDowell trying to get re-elected.
Rak and McDowell just approved another 3,216 housing units for the next 8 year State RHNA cycle, when our last cycle just delivered 596 (5 times more?!).
Rak and McDowell just approved another approx. 1,750,000 square feet of Office developments (9 of 18 Office projects Rak/McDowell approved comprising of 3,500,000 square feet total). 3.5M sf of Office represents approx. 20,000 new employees in San Carlos alone.
How will all those Rak/ McDowell approved housing units and office complexes impact Schools, Safety, Water, Pollution, Congestion, Ruining San Carlos's charm? Vote accordingly!
