Editor,

I would like the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors to join the over two dozen California cities and counties, including my hometown of Hillsborough, that have passed a resolution or sent a letter in support of the Polluters Pay Climate Superfund Act. Taking this action will tell our legislators that local governments like San Mateo County need new funding sources to meet their climate resilience goals.

Thank you for highlighting this effort! Oil and Gas are polluting our air and not paying a dime for the damages. Taxpayers and individuals are left to pay the cost of rebuilding. Not fair! Let’s fix that.

Thanks for your letter, Ms. Rosenberg, but I’d recommend that Hillsborough and California residents be aware that their costs will increase because companies will pass on their costs to the consumer. Costs will also increase before the act, if it passes, will ever see the light of day. Costs due to the funds required to fight lawsuits from both the federal government and the companies money is being extorted from. BTW, even if there were a global warming problem, nobody cares enough to do anything, as evidenced by the lack of folks reducing their carbon emissions. To wit, COP climate conference attendees who take 400+ private jets and who knows how many public jets to lecture folks on reducing their carbon emissions while they spew carbon to their hearts’ delight.
