A parcel tax to generate $12.2 million annually for the Redwood City School District may be presented to voters on the June ballot, the district’s Board of Trustees considered at its meeting Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The ballot measure would seek a 17.5 cent tax per building square foot, with a cap on the total amount and exceptions for seniors, for a duration of eight years. The Board of Trustees will be considering a final vote to place the measure on the June 2 ballot on Feb. 25. For a 1,000-square-foot property, the tax would be $175 per year.

Folks, it is well known in California that we’re not getting our money’s worth as public education students continue failing at reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic. Just vote NO because chances are that most, if not all, your hard-earned money will go towards paying ever-increasing union wages, pensions, and benefits. Trust me. Your money will not be used “for the kids.”

RCSD staff and trustee Mike Wells are clearly lying there. Redwood City School District is in fact one of the richest school districts in America.

OECD average is $15,000 per student, so is California's LCFF.

RCSD on the other hand can spend $30,000 per year.

Several years ago, Menlo Park SD was asked if they want to spend money on a dedicated Mandarin Immersion School and MPSD said: 'No thanks, we don't have that kind of cash.'

Redwood City SD jumped in and said: 'Of course we can afford that.' And so they did.

MPSD or San Carlos still don't have any language immersion schools, RCSD has 2-5.
