Editor,

How do we explain this Iran war madness to MAGA folks? We say that this illegal war (according to the United Nations charter) in the offing is definitely NOT America First. Iran is no genuine threat to us. We may hate the mullah’s regime, but to go “over there” to fight and die because of that? Not hardly. Why would we sacrifice the lives of our troops and create more Gold Star families without an intelligent explanation to our citizens, who will be asked to pay the ultimate price?

Hey Mr. Caggiano, a few obvious observations… First, you’re not in a position to define what MAGA means; Trump does. (Of course, I’m interested in what your definition is.) Second, Americans have paid the ultimate price due to Iran’s shenanigans and treachery for a while. For your reading pleasure, the following link (https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2026/03/the-iranian-regimes-decades-of-terrorism-against-american-citizens/) provides more information detailing the Iranian regime’s decades of terrorism against Americans. Third, how well has that Obama agreement to keep any nuclear program in a bottle for years to come work out for Obama or America? If it did, we wouldn’t be here and for once, Obama would have a success. And finally, if you’re willing to give Hamas a pass for their surprise attack on Israel, why wouldn’t you afford the same consideration to Israel and the USA for their surprise attack on Iran? It’s only fair. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Obviously Mike has his head in the same open ended nuclear bottle as Obama and the rest of the ignorant democrat cohorts who opened and gift wrapped a $1.7 billion Pandora's box. Iran WAS enriching Uranian, Iran HAS ballistic missiles that can reach the U.S. and Iran WOULD have no problem using them and ALL thanks to Obama. Trump saw through the feckless nuclear deal and untied it and is now eliminating a terrorist regime who would cut cut off my head or any democrat street agitator without flinching. 30,000 brutally murdered Iranian citizens lay at the hands of the Mullahs obviously means nothing to people like Mike. Please go curl up in your recliner and thank President Trump and the United States of America for the safety that YOU and other ungrateful Americans enjoy.

Trump wasted no time tearing up the Obama-supported JCPOA document! Did he have any understanding of what he was doing, or the consequences thereof? Probably not, as usual. Looks like he is trying everything to get the attention away from his own mounting problems, ready to collapse on him in November.

I agree with you on the JCPOA. The Trump administration withdrew in 2018, leading Iran to breach its limits starting in 2019. Biden's efforts to revive it stalled amid mutual demands, contributing to the current escalation.

On other points: The US has often framed actions as self-defense under UN Charter Article 51. Iran remains a significant regional threat through proxies like Hezbollah, the Houthis, and militias in Iraq/Syria. Iran-linked cyber operations have targeted US infrastructure, and its ballistic missiles threaten allies in the Middle East and Europe. These are all US interests. Without access to intelligence briefings, it's very difficult to know how prepared this administration is for the consequences of its decisions. I am very concerned about the outcome, as I see this as a high stakes gamble.

As for Israel's internal politics, I will point out the importance of having an enforceable Constitution. Being just a democracy is not enough. This is why I often point out Trump's actions are within our rules, for which Democrats and the media are reluctant to confirm. Americans should be thankful, but vigilant, for the preservation of our constitutional framework.

Mike - it is difficult to reason with a person who will never bother to dig into what the "JCPOA document" entailed. It was a typical Obama brush off to get the Iranian out of his hair for a while, right up there with his red lines in Syria. Not to be outdone, he sent them a few of your and my billion dollars as a bonus. Please do your homework before you post your preposterous, uncorroborated opinions. And if you even believe one word of or a promise by an Iranian official, we are done talking.
