San Mateo native, church pastor and former paramedic Dave Johnson has announced his candidacy for the City Council’s District 5 seat.
Johnson attended Meadow Heights Elementary, Abbott Middle School, Hillsdale High School, and finally College of San Mateo. From 2000-08 Dave worked as paramedic in San Mateo County. In 2010, he and a group of 10 others founded Hope Church of San Mateo.
The church met at Sunnybrae Elementary School, where he served as a pastor and helped guide its growth over the next 15 years. He worked in downtown Oakland as a rescue mission manager for CityTeam International
The District 5 seat is held by Adam Loraine, the city’s current mayor, who is running for reelection. Also running for District 5 is Dana Yates Sahae, a former local journalist and parent leader active in neighborhood and school organizations.
