Editor,
Regrettably, I voted for county Supervisor Corzo, in what was supposed to be an exciting progressive movement and a vision of hope, now has turned into buyer’s remorse.
Editor,
Regrettably, I voted for county Supervisor Corzo, in what was supposed to be an exciting progressive movement and a vision of hope, now has turned into buyer’s remorse.
I did not vote to waste $20 million of taxpayer money to remove Sheriff Corpus when a recall was feasible for far less. Money that could have been invested to improve and upgrade our aged and ailing infrastructure such as sewage, water and electricity to support the new housing from Measure T, the dredging of our cherished lagoon (neglected since 1980), restore Joinville swim center, widening of Humboldt Street to improve pedestrian and bike safety, and a charter high school for Foster City among many other needs.
I did not vote to delay or stonewall the deployment of Measure K funds for our emergency services, such as fire and police, in lieu of housing.
I did not vote for an activist who is beholden to special interest groups, which does not collaborate with most city officials including our beloved county Supervisor and Congresswoman Emerita Jackie Speier.
Now the residents of county District 2 have a choice, a compassionate community advocate, fiscally responsible, highly collaborative professional and proven leader who is ready to serve immediately. A wonderful husband, and father of four who wants the best for our community and is not beholden to special interest groups. Today, I cast my vote for write-in candidate, Anastasio Zografos or “Taso” for a bright and prosperous future.

It is unfortunate that you and other voters did not do your homework when voting for Corzo in the last election. In 2022 she spoke to a group I'm involved in and I was shocked at her level of ineptness. She was asked about her position while on the school board supporting lengthy Covid school closures for kids in the SMFC district (the longest closures in the nation, which Corzo consistently voted to extend.) Her response was that she had recently, in 2022, attended a conference in another state for school board members and it wasn't until then that she learned that other states had done things differently and reopened schools much earlier without disaster. My jaw was on the floor. It was literally HER JOB as a school board member to know these things but she was either lying or did not have a modicum of curiosity regarding how things were handled, and the results, in other areas. (European countries re-opened schools in summer 2020 and didn't have higher Covid death rates than the most strict US states.) Corzo's only concern while on the school board was doing the bidding of the irrational, anti-child teachers unions.
This should have been absolutely disqualifying for BOS, but voters like this letter writer were somehow swayed by "an exciting progressive movement and a vision of hope" (and likely her backstory of being a poor Latina single mom vs big bad white man Charles Stone.) I do hope you and other voters learn from this and vote for more qualified and intelligent candidates in the future.
