Editor,
Ed Kahl’s letter of June 16 supported Trump’s war against Iran, urging him to defeat Iran’s IRGC and neutralize its nuclear capability.
What he didn’t mention is that the nuclear deal negotiated by President Obama placed verifiable limits on Iran’s nuclear program, including a reduction of enriched uranium by 98% and cap on enrichment levels to strictly civilian use for 15 years. It also included Iran’s reduction of centrifuges by two-thirds, all with strict inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, including monitoring of Iran’s nuclear supply chain and full access to declared sites.
This deal was agreed to by Iran, the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany. Trump pulled out of the deal when he became president. And the Strait of Hormuz was international water with free access until Trump started bombing Iran. Kahl’s recommendation to finish the war that Trump started, given the outcome to date, is utter nonsense.

Even if Trump understood President Obama’s deal, he wouldn’t support it because his fragile ego would be in the way. That’s how small-minded this convicted rapist is! Remember how he was running around with the silly “Birth certificate”? How unpresidential! Still, enough people were dumb enough t vote for him!
Well Robert - if you believe that a deal with Iran is worth the spit on a sidewalk, you are still completely clueless. The deal was never consummated as Iran refused inspectors and used all of the money that Obama authorized to finance their proxy terrorists. They also went straight ahead with enrichment which was reported as a severe violation by the INIA's bureau chief. Don't spread lies please. Obama was taken for a ride but he did not care as he cashed in his chips while laughing at you from his lofty distance.
How dumb does anyone have to be to believe that President Obama was taken for a ride?
How dumb can one be if he or she does not believe that Obama was taken for a ride.
If Trump was a democrat, Jorg would call him a genius and be bowing before him and if Obama was a republican, Jorg would call Obama stupid, clean and articulate.
Oh c'mon Dirk. Obama taken for a ride? The right laughed at Obama when the deal was carefully agreed after two years of negotiations. Obama returned money Iran had on deposit with us - in other words their money. Now Trump wants to return to a deal not close to what was previously agreed and pay Iran $300B to do so. Who is being taken for a ride now?
Rel - nice try. The deal was a one-way street. One more time, Iran neglected every and each component of the deal which equates to Obama being taken for a ride. The $300B is tied to certain conditions. However, for the record, I have serious doubts about Trump's deal as well. Iran cannot be trusted and I hope/pray that Trump will eventually acknowledge their scheming and duplicity. So far, I am not impressed.
Pres. Obama's deal resulted in Iran increasing Uranium to within a few days of becoming weapons grade Uranium. That's why Trump had to go ahead with the bunker bombs.
