I’ve seen letters comparing the JCPOA to the current Iran deal being negotiated, and the letters deriding the JCPOA used 10-year-old arguments without updating or comparing the “Obama Deal” to the nascent “Trump Deal,” so I’m sharing comparative facts.
Obama’s deal limited enrichment to 3.67%. Trump’s will either limit it to 60% or will not remove enriched uranium at all. Obama’s deal had a system of inspections. The Iranians now aren’t agreeing to inspections at all. Obama’s deal including releasing $50 billion to $150 billion in Iranian cash from sanctions relief. Trump has agreed to remove all sanctions and additionally pay $300 billion, which may come from the American taxpayer. Finally, Obama never even acknowledged Iranian claims over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has already acknowledged that the Iranians may charge fees to shipping through the strait.
It is bad faith to say the Obama deal was rooting for the Iranians. Rather than name calling or calling people un-American for disagreeing, try to convince folks that this Trump deal is better than the one Obama signed. Ten years ago, Obama’s team argued it was the best deal available and Iran Hawks argued it was a defeat. Ten years on, I have seen enough evidence to agree with Obama’s team.
It may be hard to admit that Trump and the Hawks were wrong. If you disagree, don’t call me un-American. I’m a veteran and offended by that. Instead, use facts to change my mind. If the facts don’t support, then change your mind.

Nice try, Vasav, but you’re spreading Democrat talking-point fake news and lies about the current Iran deal being negotiated. If you want the truth on the MOU, watch JD Vance’s press briefing on June 17. He lays out the facts and they should be enough to change your mind. If not, I won’t call you un-American but I will assert that anyone who is not for making America great again and also puts the welfare of criminals and terrorists over the American people, those folks are un-American. I’ll let you decide.
