Editor,

“Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me” is an old saying that still remains true to this day. For those of you about my age (70) it was something we heard a lot growing up.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Thom, but I’m unsure as to what point you’re trying to make. If sticks and stones will break your bones and names will never hurt you, why are you worried about our (yes, our) great President Trump calling anyone names, especially since you don’t seem too concerned about Democrats calling Trump names. It doesn’t feel so nice when the show is on the other foot, does it? True story. BTW, speaking of sticks and stones and breaking bones, reports are that Hezbollah and the Taliban were bombed overnight by Israel. A preemptive strike to keep terrorists from launching attacks against Israel? A precursor to the U.S. taking action against Iran?

As for being nice, perhaps if Democrats didn’t have anything nice to say, they shouldn’t say it. But not only are Democrats leaning into name-calling (because it’s all they have when they have no policies of note) but many have added potty-mouth twists. True story. If you can get Dems to behave, perhaps you’ll see the same from others but I don’t see it happening anytime soon…BTW, I’ve yet to see Michelle Obama taking the high road. In desperation to stay relevant, Ms. Obama isn’t even doing that when referring to her husband.
