St. Matthew Episcopal Day School and Middle School student Cayden Tu, of San Mateo, was honored by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth as an exceptional student after receiving high marks on a rigorous, above-grade-level test issued through Tu’s participation in the organization’s national talent search.

Menlo-Atherton High School, Buri Buri Elementary and Skyline Elementary schools in South San Francisco, Pilarcitos High and Alvin Hatch Elementary schools in Half Moon Bay, Sequoia High, Garfield Elementary, Sandpiper Elementary, Selby Lane schools in Redwood City, Heather Elementary School in San Carlos, Woodside School, San Mateo Park and San Mateo High schools, Hillsdale High School, Hillview Middle School in Menlo Park, Burlingame Intermediate School, the College of San Mateo, the TRACE program at the Sequoia Union High School District and Teacher Leadership for Instructional Improvement in the Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary School District won Kent Awards for excellent programs focusing on literacy, reading, computer science, equity and more.

More than 1,000 Redwood City fourth-graders participated in the 17th annual Make Time for Fitness event Thursday, May 18, at Red Morton Park. The activities, sponsored by Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital, featured games, lessons on healthy lifestyles and more.
