In December, the Trump administration announced its intent to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
This federal agency has been responsible for gathering weather-related data used in weather prediction, for both short- and long-term forecasts.
White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought believes the agency creates “climate alarmism.”
However, NCAR’s research supports a wide range of real-world applications, including agricultural planning, drought and water management, wildfire behavior analysis, flood forecasting, aviation safety and emergency preparedness.
Pulling funding from this agency would jeopardize the safety of Americans. Decisions on its funding also rest with Congress, not the executive branch. Please contact your Representative Mullin or Liccardo and ask that funding be restored. For all of us.
Thanks for your letter, Ms. Salinger, but if this center is as important as you say it is then you and others of like mind should have no problems soliciting private donations to keep the center open. Taxpayers who agree with Mr. Vought and who believe the agency creates “climate alarmism” would be ecstatic if you could make that happen. Win-win. For all of us.
