Editor,

This is in response to the D.J. Jan. 29 letter from Taso Zografos. Mr. Zografos compares the differences between Ms. Patel and Mr. Newsom as candidates for City Council. As I read Mr. Zografos last paragraph “San Mateo deserves leadership equal to the moment — leadership grounded in honesty, substance and accountability. San Mateo needs more public servants like Rob Newsom.”

Rob Newsom rarely responds to his constituents, even those of us who endorsed him and supported him. His “missing in action” approach proves he is no leader. Still waiting for his call, so we can pull our endorsements.

Thanks for your comment, anna kuhre. Could you provide more context? Is Mr. Newsom a man of few words who is still doing his job? Or is Mr. Newsom not doing his job while missing out on meetings? Or is the standard now that to be a "leader" one must make news each day, every day, to get ink or publicity and they must stick to a position (whether they have all of the relevant information or not)? As a voter, I'd like more information. Who is Mr. Newsom's competition and what are your thoughts on them?

I will not be endorsing anyone in this upcoming election. And, I will be pulling my endorsements from lisa Nash and rob newsom. Too many shenanigans behind the scene. I refuse to participate in any planned hateful campaigning. Just watch the players. As a city, San Mateo residents need peace. Too much hateful rhetoric for me!

I brought an issue to the Council and Rob Newsom was very helpful and responsive to my request. I would support him.

Rob Newsom and Amo Lee were essential in creating the whole Humboldt Street bike lane fiasco.

The bike lanes were in 5 or 6 different city plans and approved on all levels - there was absolutely no need to pick up this topic ever again. It's settled.

But Mayor Newsom did. The whole hulllaboo is on him.

Which "green", "sustainable", "climate change", "livable neighborhoods" loving Democrat would dare to STEAL bike lanes from children in an Equity Focus Area?

Apparently Democrats like Rob Newsom, Amo Lee, or Nicole Fernandez would.

And in the recent meeting, even after 3 of the other council members sided with children in this low-income neighborhoods, Rob Newsom and Nicole Fernandez were still arguing in favor of the car collectors and "corporate interest" from Baywood or Gramercy. And yes, that includes the automotive industrialist Taso Zografos.
