Downtown San Mateo Association’s new president, Rafat Haddad, is hoping to invite different businesses to its board, ramp up weekday activity and keep the pedestrian mall an active hub for the area.

Haddad, owner of 3 Bees Coffee on East Third Avenue, has been a longtime presence in the district, opening his business more than 20 years ago. After spending time on the board of directors, Haddad was recently voted in as the association’s new president.
