Editor,

I have worked with the Assessor Clerk Recorder’s Division for a little over seven years under Mr. Jim Irizarry, our assistant assessor-county clerk-recorder and assistant chief elections officer.

I'm over the age of 70 so feel comfortable calling out that Jim Irizarry conveniently forgot to post his age in the voter guide book for the June Primary. He was born in 1951, as per Google. That means he would be nearly 80 before the end of his first four year term. The irony is that Jackie Speier, who is advocating for Irazarry, said when she retired from the U.S. Congress that there should be age limits for elected public servants. Plus, voter registration records document that through several election cycles, Mr. Irizarry, who has been sued by a staff member for harassment, was a registered member of the George Wallace-created American Independent Party.

Lastly, the Democratic Party apparatus has endorsed Mr. Irizarry's opponent. No one else has stepped forward, so that's who I will cast my ballot for.
