The 31-year-old woman who died in a garage fire at a North Fair Oaks residence on Friday was identified as Marie Jamie Arnaiz Cabrera, according to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.Â
Cabrera was found inside a blazing garage by firefighters who responded to a structure fire call at 640 Hurlingame Ave. at approximately 4:45 a.m. Jan. 30. She was removed from the structure, but ultimately pronounced dead by on scene medical personnel.Â
Two other individuals evacuated prior to the arrival of first responders, according to a joint press release from Gretchen Spiker, director of Communications for the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.Â
After fire crews and deputies arrived on scene, the fire was quickly brought under control. The house sustained smoke damage but the fire was contained to the detached garage.Â
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.Â
At approximately 11:45 a.m. Friday, crews were investigating the interior of a blue SUV parked across the street from the location.Â
The Sheriff’s Office did not respond before publication to inquiry regarding the status of the investigation into Cabrera’s death.
