Crews are using construction equipment to clear the rubble of a Pennsylvania nursing home after an explosion killed two people and hospitalized 20 others. The blast happened Tuesday at the Bristol Health & Rehab Center. Bristol Police Chief Charles Winik said Wednesday that searchers accounted for everyone considered missing. The Bucks County coroner's office says an employee who died was 52-year-old Muthoni Nduthu. Authorities didn't immediately identify a resident who died. The cause of the blast is under investigation. Authorities say a utility crew was on site responding to reports of a gas odor when the explosion occurred. Emergency responders evacuated residents amid flames, a strong gas odor and a second explosion.

Hong Kong leader John Lee has said 36 people were reported killed in a fire that spread through a dense high-rise residential housing complex on Wednesday. Another 279 people were reported missing and 29 people remained hospitalized. He said the fire, which broke out at a residential complex in Tai Po, a suburb in the New Territories, was "coming under control" shortly past midnight. Police have arrested three men on suspicion of manslaughter. The housing complex consisted of eight buildings with almost 2,000 apartments housing about 4,800 residents. The fire sent up a column of flames and thick smoke as it spread quickly on bamboo scaffolding that had been set up around the buildings.
