One person was injured in a fire at an abandoned residence in Brisbane late Thursday night, fire officials said.
Fire crews responded at about 9:37 p.m. to a commercial structure fire at 3800 Bayshore Blvd., Unit 11. Six fire companies, two chief officers and a fire investigator were dispatched to the scene, firefighters said.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a single-story abandoned residence.
Crews launched an aggressive fire attack while conducting search-and-rescue operations and working to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes and property, according to the North County Fire Authority.
One occupant was found inside and transported to a hospital for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation, fire officials noted.
The fire was contained to the structure, and crews remained on scene for about three hours conducting overhaul and salvage operations. No firefighter injuries were reported, firefighters said.
Investigators determined the fire was accidental and caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials.
