An 18-year-old male was killed early Saturday when the car he was in collided with a tractor-trailer on Interstate Highway 80 in San Francisco and flew off an overpass, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man killed was identified as Lenin Homer Silva, 18, who graduated Thursday from Hillsdale High School.
The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. on eastbound I-80 at the elevated 7th Street offramp, CHP Officer Mark Andrews said.
A gray Chevrolet Camaro in the fast lane approaching the offramp clipped the left front of a Recology truck, sending both vehicles into the sand barrels at the top of the exit, Andrews said.
While the truck was able to stop, the Camaro was catapulted over the barrels, over the metal bridge railing and fell about 25 feet down into the San Francisco Police Department's impound lot at 450 7th St.

The Camaro struck several unoccupied vehicles in the lot, continued forward and toppled over onto its roof, landing atop another unoccupied vehicle, Andrews said.
Two passengers in the rear of the Camaro, both 18, had to be extricated by firefighters. One was taken to a local hospital with major injuries, the CHP said. Silva, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver of the Camaro and a 17-year-old front seat passenger were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, Andrews said.
Alcohol and drugs don't appear to be factors in the crash, Andrews said. An investigation was continuing.
