Class Notes: Chiara Luey named 2026 Youth Sustainability Award winner by Sustainable San Mateo County

Chiara Luey, a senior at Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough, was named the 2026 Youth Sustainability Award winner by Sustainable San Mateo County. Luey received the award for her work in clean energy education and youth civic engagement, including starting an initiative focused on kindergarten through sixth grade sustainability education and serving on the Hillsborough Youth Commission. ‘She does not simply advocate for a sustainable future; she engineers it through data-driven infrastructure, legislative action and a relentless passion for engaging and teaching others in her community,’ a press release reads.
