Editor,
I am troubled by the Daily Journal’s decision to publish the opinion piece “Refusing to look away” by Tovis Page. While opinion pieces allow for strong viewpoints, they do not relieve a newspaper of its responsibility to readers.
Editor,
I am troubled by the Daily Journal’s decision to publish the opinion piece “Refusing to look away” by Tovis Page. While opinion pieces allow for strong viewpoints, they do not relieve a newspaper of its responsibility to readers.
Ms. Page states that Renee Good “was murdered for being a witness to state violence,” despite the fact that the circumstances of her death remain under investigation.
Available reporting and video indicate that Ms. Good struck the officer immediately before the shooting — an important fact conveniently omitted from the column.
Presenting such a serious and unresolved allegation as settled fact is irresponsible journalism. It risks misleading readers and undermines public trust, particularly in a case involving an ongoing investigation and grave accusations against an identifiable individual.
Advocacy and moral commentary can — and should — be expressed without abandoning factual restraint. The Daily Journal should exercise greater care in what it chooses to publish under its name.

Thanks for your letter, Ms. Xuereb. I can understand why you’re troubled by Ms. Page’s opinion piece. Personally, I’m glad the DJ published her piece because Ms. Page is showing us who she really is – not as an agent for good, but for the opposite. Have the seeds of discontentment sprouted and blossomed during the past decade or recently, due to being easily manipulated by those in the Democrat party who put the welfare of criminals and terrorists over the American people. There seems to be a recognized cohort of the population who are more easily manipulated than others. And unfortunately, this has resulted in the recent death of one who chose to use their vehicle as a deadly weapon. Woe to those kids and woe to those who choose to take Ms. Page’s words to heart. Remember, actions have consequences and you don’t want to engage in consequences you can’t recover from.
Making veiled threats may make you feel better and there may be some short term gain in your opinion, however they will not serve well as humanity goes forth and history looks back upon this woeful time.
Thanks for your response, Mr. Bonilla. You claim I’m making “veiled threats” yet you don’t list what they are. To borrow from Obama, “let me be clear.” The bottom line is that actions have consequences and if one doesn’t think things through (say, opting to use a vehicle as a deadly weapon instead of following the law) one may pay the ultimate consequence. And that’s a fact, not a threat, veiled or otherwise. But please, educate us. You’re allowed a few hundred words in a comment, so please elaborate, if you can. I’m shaking with anticipation (oh wait, that’s the cold this morning, or the two cups of Dunkin’ I’ve already downed).
You are correct in that we are in a woeful time, especially because Democrats choose to put the welfare of criminals and terrorists over the American people. (I asked you three months ago to explain but as anticipated, radio silence.) You attempt to lecture Mr. Kahl on the Constitution but perhaps you would do a greater service in reminding your Democrat colleagues who swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution to do so. Until such time, nobody will take your/their lectures, faux outrage, and hypocrisy seriously. Meanwhile, more power to ICE and American patriots to do the job we elected them to do. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
BTW, Mr. Bonilla, remember how you were complaining that billionaires weren’t paying their fair share? Thanks to your pal Newsom and unions filling his campaign coffers pushing a retroactive billionaire tax (likely illegal but the damage is being done), reports are that up to $1 trillion of wealth has left the state. Will the “little people” who vote for Democrats be on the hook for making up the difference? Or will Newsom realize he made another boneheaded mistake, eat crow, and pull the proposal? Regardless, perhaps you can focus your efforts on reducing waste, fraud, and abuse due to Democrat so-called leaders instead of lecturing us on the Constitution that Democrats willfully ignore. Thank you in advance. (And that's how you take advantage of expanding thoughts and ideas in a comment.)
The view of the tape I saw showed the driver starting to accelerate into the Federal Agent standing in front of her left headlight. It would only have taken a couple seconds to run the officer over which gave the other officer standing at the driver's window no choice but to shoot her. But we'll have to wait until the investigations concludes before drawing a final conclusion.
It appears you have trouble with your eyes. Not only is your characterization of what the video clearly shows incorrect, but also you have not read the news which says that the Department of justice says they will not investigate. People who used to support right of life need to understand now that there is no such thing, because if you disagree with this regime, they could kill you, brand new, a professional agitator (which by the way is not illegal) and refuse to investigate (apparently because exercising your right to free speech is now illegal ) and that would be it. Maybe you should also try reading the constitution. I know that you are likely one of those people who swears you support it.

Rick Bonilla is correct, this time. Via prompt Facebook posts of multiple videos which were narrated and verified, frame by frame, one can see what actually transpired as far as the driver turning to avoid the ICE GUN-HOLDER.
In the past, I did not have much praise for Mr Bonilla's actions when he was on the city council in San Mateo, but this time bravo for your bravery, Rick.
I continue to experience regret on behalf of the partner of the murdered woman, and one would hope that the surviving partner may be feeling guilty for her taunting words immediately before the multiple gunshots, which may have contributed to the ICE aggressors' violent actions and despicable words of sexist hatred directed at her murdered partner.
By the way, Reverend Tovis has personally served as my minister in the recent past, and has made a very positive impact on my own self-perception.
Her right to express her personal opinion in a guest column supersedes someone trying to ignore reality of the violence and change reality.
And the original letter writer seemed to threaten the Daily Journal staff, with a Fascist tone, parallel to the one that we hear from the White House each and every day.
That is something that we all should be sensitive to and discouraging when we hear attempts to silence our objective media and/or expressions of personal opinion by knowledgeable individuals.
Regardless, Doug North Central, of whether it is millisecond or full second or multiple seconds of footage, the fact remains that the woman drove towards the agent. She made her choice and her actions had consequences. How about we review the footage of the woman impeding ICE operations? How about we review footage of the woman dropping off her kids at day care and then driving to impede ICE operations? ICE operations, but the way, taking criminals off the streets.
How about we review footage of the woman stepping on the brake? How about we review footage of the woman stepping out of the car? How about we review footage of so-called Minnesota leaders cooperating with ICE so ICE doesn’t have to go into neighborhoods? Wait, there is none, resulting in this unfortunate death. The woman made a conscious choice to drive towards the agent. Does she deserve the consequences she received? It doesn’t matter because she made her choice. Folks should think once, twice, or however many times to realize what the consequences of their illegal actions might be and whether they’ll be able to walk away from them. Unfortunately, this woman is a sacrificial lamb on the altar of Democrat treachery. Have any Democrats fund raised off her death?
Speaking of Democrat treachery, how do you feel about protesters interrupting church service to yell at and harass parishioners? Would you be okay with that if Ms. Tovis or anyone else is speaking? Or praying? That is something that we all should be sensitive to and discouraging when we hear attempts by invaders to demean safe spaces. Meanwhile, more power to ICE to do the job we voted for. I hear ICE has initiated enforcement operations in Maine. Let’s hope California is on their list.
TBot, remember the rules, we never blame drivers. That would be un-American.
Was the pedestrian in a marked or unmarked crosswalk?
Maybe she didn't see the pedestrian jumping in front of her.
Maybe the pedestrian should have worn "clown-gear" rather than camouflage.
I hope the pedestrian was at least wearing a helmet when doing something so radical and risky.
eGerd – TBot here. Sounds like you’re flustered, where all you can manage is to again throw whatever you can think of, no matter how dishonest, against the wall and hope something sticks. Unfortunately for you, nothing is sticking. Actions have consequences and unfortunately for the driver, due to her poor decision-making skills, she encountered consequences she can’t recover from. BTW, are the pedestrians you speak of the furries and inflatable costume characters loitering in the streets in No Kings parties?
Instead of throwing nonsense against a wall and hoping something sticks, perhaps you can work on some recipes based on the new MAHA food pyramid so that folks will stick to a food diet filled with animal protein. Speaking of which, time to get a few more rib-eye steaks.
TBot, you endorse camouflaged, masked, biological male jaywalkers jumping out with guns to attack unprotected biological women in large SUVs?
I'm appalled and surprised by your change of heart there. I did not see that coming.
Btw. when real police officers are doing these kinds of things they are wearing brighter colors and clown-gear ... as they should: https://youtu.be/DZmtsHzYfzE
Ed: You probably watched that on the FOX Lie channel?
Today's News: "6 prosecutors quit over DOJ handling of Renee Good shooting."
Yes, likely the same prosecutors who ignored the billion dollar fraud schemes. They would have been fired and prosecuted themselves. Minneapolis is a rathole and has no moral bearing left whatever. The prior Scandinavian values were destroyed by Obama's targeted invasion.
More than a little racist, Dirk.
And, Yosemite Says, in other news: Trump is surging more agents to Minnesota and withholding federal funds to Minnesota and likely, to other sanctuary states; Scott Bessent is continuing his investigations into Somali fraud; Brooke Rollins is suspending USDA federal financial rewards to Minnesota. More great news to come from our (yes, our) great President Trump and his administration to Make America Great Again, Again.
