Héctor Camacho
Héctor Camacho’s lead against Chelsea Bonini in the race for San Mateo County superintendent of schools has widened, according to semiofficial election results Friday.Â
As of 3 p.m. Friday, Camacho had 41,659 votes — 1,972 over his opponent Bonini who is now trailing with 48.79% of the vote.Â
Since election night when Bonini was in the lead by around 500 or so votes, the most recently counted ballots have largely gone to Camacho. The difference in votes between the two has consistently grown since Tuesday, and favored Camacho.
So far, 100,514 ballots have been processed, with an estimated 95,510 left to go, according to the Chief Elections Office. The voter turnout has creeped up to 22.5% as of Friday.Â
The next update in vote counts will be by 4:30 p.m. Monday.
