Editor,

When it was determined to use military-like enforcement in our cities I thought this can’t be.  What possibly warrants large numbers of armed agents on city streets, their very presence, appearance and tactics meant to instill fear in all. Unprecedented. Ah, immigration, a tough problem that decidedly got out of control. But wait, we have had immigration removal before and these tactics were not used.

Perhaps viewpoints can be widened by insights from Speaker of the House and his insights from the wisdom of the centuries' old bible......"“For example, while each INDIVIDUAL is accountable for his or her own behavior (e.g., Exodus 20), the FAMILY is commanded to ‘bring up children in the training and instruction of the Lord’ (Eph. 6:4) and ‘provide for their relatives’ (1 Tim. 5:8). The CHURCH is commanded to make disciples and equip people for the work of the ministry (Eph. 4:11-13), and the CIVIL GOVERNMENT is established to faithfully uphold and enforce the law so that order can be maintained in this fallen world, crime can be kept at bay, and people can live peacefully (Rom. 13, 1 Tim. 2:1-2).”

Nancy Archibald's letter laments the use of "military-like enforcement" in cities like Minneapolis for immigration control, calling it un-American and cruel. She asks, "Where is my America?" But America isn't just hers, it's ours, shared by all citizens who expect secure borders and laws enforced fairly.

The reality is that the Biden administration's policies effectively permitted open borders, allowing millions to cross unchecked. Nobody voted for that chaos. While Ms. Archibald focuses on the "fear" instilled by enforcement agents, she and much of the media ignored the profound harms inflicted on these migrants long before they reach our streets. Forced to pay cartels exorbitant fees, they endured rape, human trafficking, and deadly journeys. These are the real cruelties of lax policies, not the lawful removal of those who entered illegally.

She cites video images from Minneapolis, decrying the "sickening feeling" from the incidents where two white individuals were shot amid unrest. Yet, where is the outcry or protests in the streets for the 127 Black and Latinos shot (39 deaths) in Chicago just in the first month of this year? Selective empathy undermines the call for humanity.

As for the "militarization," what about the vigilantism of armed groups blocking streets and deciding who gets to enter? That sounds an awful lot like communities demanding the strong borders the previous administration failed to provide us. We've handled tens of thousands of immigration removals without incident under multiple Presidents. Enforcement isn't cruelty. it's restoring order and protecting everyone, including immigrants, from exploitation.

America's values include the rule of law and compassion, but not at the expense of sovereignty. America has long been a nation of immigrants who mostly followed the legal pathways available at the time. When citizens or governments routinely disregard or fail to enforce their own immigration and border laws, it erodes trust, invites chaos, and undermines the social contract.

Thanks for your letter, Ms. Archibald, but you’re under the false assumption that this is your America. This is our America and as such, patriots adhere to the U.S. Constitution and our system of law and order. Those who crossed our borders illegally should be deported. Imagine if Democrats put the welfare of American citizens above those of criminals and terrorists. We wouldn’t have images of paid agitators, with the blessing of rabid Democrats, attempting to usurp American values.

You are correct in that if we see something that is wrong we need to say something. I’d encourage folks to contact ICE by telephone or if one has video or pictures to upload, they can make online ICE submissions. After all, it is our America and we elected Trump to do the job voters voted for in Making America Great Again, Again. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Either Trump has no clue to what he is doing, or he has no understanding of the dire consequences of his actions. What is more likely, for someone as uneducated as he is, with a number of bankruptcies behind him, someone who pardoned the Jan. 6 criminals and managed to ruin the promising economy handed him by his predecessors, presidents Obama and Biden? Should we be surprised if, as his last action before leaving the office he was so badly suited for, pardons all criminals in Federal prisons?
