Foster City’s phone and email access is back as the city continues to restore its online public services as of Friday afternoon, following a cyberattack that first occurred March 19.
Emergency services have remained fully functional throughout the incident, and City Hall remains open to the public during normal business hours with limited services available, the city said in an announcement Friday.
The city released an announcement on Thursday, March 19, stating that ransomware was found on its network early that morning, which the Foster City Police Department continues to investigate.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience this disruption may cause,” the city said in Friday’s update.
City staff previously could not make or receive calls or respond to emails following the cyberattack.
Residents are encouraged to follow the city on social media including @cityoffc on Instagram, or subscribe to the city’s newsletter to stay up to date on progress.
