College of San Mateo isn’t relying on luck to dictate its seventh straight appearance in the state championship tournament. The Lady Bulldogs (42-2) showed Friday they are ready to battle in an attempt to win their first-ever state title.

In a back-and-forth battle with Fullerton (37-8), the Bulldogs traded runs to force extra innings before winning it in the bottom of the ninth 5-4 on a walk-off solo home run by Half Moon Bay graduate Ally Sarabia.
Sarabia’s fellow HMB grad, freshman Riley Donovan, added two home runs — a two-run shot in the second to give CSM a 2-0 lead, followed by a solo blast in the fourth to tie it 3-3.
The Bulldogs later trailed 4-3 in the sixth, but freshman Amanda Weitenhagen clubbed a solo homer to tie it.
Emily McAdams went the distance for CSM to earn the win, improving her record to 31-1.
The Bulldogs continue play in the double-elimination tourney Saturday at Bakersfield College against San Joaquin Delta at 9 a.m.
