Editor,

I’m surprised by the letters that seem confused as to why there are protests against the Venezuelan War. I am a veteran who served overseas in the War on Terror — I know not every intervention has been like the Iraq War, but how quickly some of my countryman have forgotten any lessons from that conflict. Saddam was a bad man, as is Maduro. Saddam was quickly overthrown, as has Maduro. And yet the chaos of postwar management continued, even though we ultimately prevailed against two insurgencies and a government friendly to us still remains in power.

Vasav - I think you have omitted the fact that we have a Congress and a Judiciary who can, and will, put the brakes on any roque action by any President. To compare the dictators in Russia and China with our democratically elected President makes me believe that you did not review your off-the- wall opinion before you submitted the LTE. Of course it provided grist for the usual TDS afflicted gang who will buy anything as long as it smells like Anti-Trump. Note the reactions from the two traditional group thinkers.

Thanks for your letter, Vasav, but these days, when you have protestors protesting law and order to secure our borders and oust criminals and terrorists in our country illegally, then it is obvious not all protests are valid or should be supported. How many of the folks protesting against the Venezuela arrest of Maduro (not a war, as you’re attempting to imply) are from Venezuela or are living in Venezuela? Anyone who is protesting is doing so because they live in America. Perhaps these protesters should wonder what would happen to them if they lived in Venezuela. As it is now, these folks can protest all they want, as long as it remains peaceful. We don’t want them to Find Out what happens when, you know… Their actions have consequences and they may not like them.
