Prop. 19 is dealing with an old question: The dysfunctional Prop. 13 and the distortions brought on by time.

While there are some that fit the narrative (homeowner with lower taxes than neighbors) many of these houses are controlled and rented by children so these are rentals which would mean rents would go up. I am also concerned about first generation homeowners who are just on the edge of being able to afford their home.For the really old home owners their incomes were somewhere much lower minimum wage was between $1 and $3. People make so much more money now so that extra money is driving up prices.
