Two months jail for vandalism

Nelson Navarette-Estrada, 19, had credit for the 60 days already when he changed his plea to the two charges. He must also pay $1,261.62 in restitution stemming from the incidents last October.

The mother of Navarette-Estrada’s child left her apartment door unlocked on Oct. 24 when she went to stay with her parents for a few nights. She told authorities he tended to break items while angry and she didn’t want him breaking into her apartment, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

When she returned, she found her apartment trashed and thought it was her boyfriend because his machete was in the unit. Police photographed the damage and directed her to lock the apartment and stay elsewhere. Approximately four hours later, neighbors contacted police to report crashing noises and male voice in the apartment. Police reported finding a drunk and belligerent Navarette-Estrada outside the building who, after swearing at officers, asked "so what if I was in there breaking things?”
