A 31-year-old San Bruno man who died of gunshot wounds on Feb. 7 has been identified as Oqim Zacariah Jordan, the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office said, however, the remains of an individual found in a burnt-down house where the first victim was found have yet to be identified.
On Friday, the San Bruno Police Department responded to the 100 block of Keefe Court following a report of a shooting, a statement from the department said, and Jordan — who had sustained gunshot wounds — was transferred to a hospital and pronounced deceased.
At the same time, the department was responding to a residential structure fire at the same location, according to the statement and, during a search of that residence, human remains were discovered.
The department believes everyone involved in the incident have been identified and there is no immediate threat to the community, San Bruno Police Chief Matt Lethin said. Though he could not provide additional information on the correlation between the shooting and the fire, it is believed the shooting victim and the individual who perished in the fire were related, he said.
“We’re still waiting for results of the autopsy to confirm who the person was that perished in the fire,” he said. “Our strong suspicion is that they’re related.”

Other family members were involved in the original call for service, Lethin said. Jordan’s death is being investigated as a homicide, and the death of the second, unidentified individual is undetermined as of yet, though it is also being investigated.
“It’s still an open investigation,” Lethin said. “While people have strong suspicions or hunches, we live in a world where we’re going to wait for the confirmation.”
The San Bruno Fire Department is investigating the cause of the residential fire, Fire Marshal Jessica Power said, however, it hasn’t yet resulted in any public information.
“For fire investigations, we investigate everything and we’re working to figure out what caused it and what started it,” she said. “It takes time, we’re hoping sooner than later — it depends on where the investigation leads us.”
