To support his May 21 letter “Reasons for (Iran) war misunderstood,” the author absurdly suggests that Google searches provide definitive answers, citing “experts,” while ignoring that every president since George H.W. Bush has stated that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Appeasement — even as delayed action — never works.
The Google-search effort shows that author hasn’t been paying attention to “Iranian nuclear-weapons negotiations” over the last 15 years — especially over the last few months.
In Western societies, two opposing sides — commonly a firm and its employees — use negotiations to resolve differences, usually involving pay. The more rapid the resolution, the better for both sides.
The Iranian goal — in their U.S. and U.N. negotiations to stop nuclear weapons development — is the continuing, interminable negotiations themselves, allowing Iran to continue research, while time-wasting ”negotiations” preclude any resolution.

The U.N. sent IAEA personnel to Iranian sites to assure compliance with agreements to cease nuclear-weapons development. Iran blocked that access; proving Iran sought nuclear weapons.
In recent weeks, President Trump offered Iran a perpetual, free supply of low-grade uranium, useful only for energy, if they would agree to relinquish all highly-refined (weapons-grade) uranium and end their nuclear-weapons research. Iran declined, stating it was their right to acquire nuclear weapons.
For 47 years, Iran’s Islamist-theocracy has sponsored worldwide terrorism toward their goal: destroy America. We ignore such fascist goals at our own risk. Not declaring war on a nation that has openly declared war on us requires willful blindness.
We must oppose the proliferations of all of nuclear weapons. Iran's Theocracy can never be trusted with nuclear weapons whose use could be based on the religious beliefs of its leaders. The Iranian people need to re-gain control of their government.
