Human remains found in the Feb. 7 San Bruno house fire were identified to be 33-year-old Lijah Matthew Jordan, the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office said, who police also believe is the suspect in the shooting of his brother, 31-year-old Oqim Zacariah Jordan.
Oqim Jordan sustained gunshot wounds on Feb. 7 at the same location — a residential house on the 100 block of Keefe Court — and was transferred to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
“The suspect and victim were brothers,” San Bruno Police Chief Matt Lethin said. “We know that the shooter and the victim were both the two from the house involved, and the actual assault and shooting was confined to them.”
Police responded to reports of a shooting in the area Feb. 7 and subsequently responded to the residential house fire, where they discovered the remains of Lijah Jordan in the house.
At this time, the working hypothesis is that Lijah Jordan started the fire, Lethin said, however, he differed final confirmation to the San Bruno Fire Department. Fire Marshal Jessica Power said previously that the department was investigating the cause of the fire, and did not immediately respond to request for comment.
Lethin emphasized that all signs pointed to the incident being both targeted and isolated.
“We’re not expecting this is going to be a case that’s going to make it into a court room,” he said. “The individuals involved have both passed away.”
