Editor,

I have been reading the letters in opposition to the treatment center being proposed on 101 N. El Camino Real and find many aspects troubling. First of all the slogan Treatment Yes, Location No is a shameful attempt by a bunch of selfish NIMBYs to hide their true colors. They don’t want anything to pollute what they believe is a pure little community above all the perils of everyday life. The location in question is exactly where the treatment center should be. Everybody should see the problems in our society and not hide it away in some obscure location. We, as a culture, should embrace all people because any of us could be in a bad situation in a heartbeat.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Keegan, but I’d bet that the way you feel about these “selfish NIMBY’s” is the same way many feel about your motives. The bigger question is whether you live near the proposed treatment center as many NIMBY’s do. Or are you hoping that the proposed location is placed in their backyard so it is not located in your backyard? That being said, you are correct in that, “Ignoring or hiding societal problems will only make them worse.” After all, look at what Democrats have been doing to California and our nation in putting the welfare of criminals and terrorists over the American people. Seems law and order aren’t priorities for Democrats and perhaps that is the reason folks don’t have confidence in treatment center “promises.”

I understand the Juvi Hall is almost empty because of prior bleeding heart lawmakers. That facility is secure and modern so why not place the center there?
