Editor,
Regarding James Constantino’s Sept. “2 Free the American hot dog!” letter, he apparently resented the “Why We Protest” guest perspective of the Aug. 28 Daily Journal as he views protesters as people with “nothing better to do.”

Editor,
Regarding James Constantino’s Sept. “2 Free the American hot dog!” letter, he apparently resented the “Why We Protest” guest perspective of the Aug. 28 Daily Journal as he views protesters as people with “nothing better to do.”
Where would we be now if the protesters who changed history with the Boston Tea Party in 1773, Womens’ Suffrage in 1913, the March on Washington in 1963, Anti-Vietnam protest of 1967 and 1969, Great American Boycott or 2006, Black Lives Matter 2013, Womens’ March of 2017 had “stayed home” and “twiddled their thumbs” as he suggests, so as not to be a “nuisance” for “people driving by with a destination in mind?” The idea that protesters’ statements don’t matter and that they are only there to “inflate’ their egos” is asinine. They are deeply concerned about the destination our country is taking. If Mr. Constantino had trouble understanding this idea then I suggest his next destination should be a library where he can check out the First Amendment of the Constitution, or maybe even check out a book about American history. Ignorance isn’t bliss. It’s inexcusable.

What? No mention of Jan. 6.
Thanks for your letter, Mr. Kauser, but a few of your listed protests didn’t do much, unless you’re highlighting the $billions in damage and the deaths associated with the BLM protests. You seem to forget that for protesters to make a difference, they need to have some semblance of moral authority. I fail to see the moral authority in defending criminals and supporting them more than your fellow American citizens. Perhaps Democrats should go to a library where they can check out books on federal law and law enforcement, or even the crime of illegally crossing the border. Ignorance isn’t bliss. It’s inexcusable. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
