• The voting record of California’s Legislature and the Governor on issues that impact communities of color was highlighted today in the release of "Facing Race: 2007 Legislative Report Card on Racial Equity.”
The report, released by the Oakland-based public policy and research institute Applied Research Center (ARC), assesses the State Legislature and Governor on their support for policies that advance racial equity by closing disparities, protecting against violence and discrimination, and promoting civic participation for all Californians.
State Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco/San Mateo, scored an A on the report card with 100 percent ratings in all five issue areas examined by ARC: Education, Healthcare, Civil Rights, Criminal Justice and Housing and Economics.
