Tech titan Google announced an intent to contribute $1 billion toward fighting the Bay Area’s affordable housing crisis, inviting a chorus of cheers from local officials and the broader business community.

Over the coming decade, the Mountain View company declared a willingness to dedicate $750 million in land for housing development, plus establish a $250 million investment fund to incentivize further residential construction. An additional $50 million will be granted toward stemming homelessness and displacement.

Google building an enormous campus and owns Mountain View... Ratio of employees anticipated to housing units? Might this offer be just a drop in the bucket of the housing needed just for Google employees. not to blemish any housing offers..

This us a 10 year plan. In the meantime, we had an increase of 95K jobs in 2018, and 31K jobs in the first quarter of 2019. Another question for Google: how many more jobs will you be adding in the next year or ten years? 15K housing units sound great but will the jobs/housing balance worsen or improve?
