A fatal traffic collision has blocked all westbound lanes on State Route 92 on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge on Tuesday afternoon, according to Caltrans.
The call came into the California Highway Patrol at about 2:45 p.m. and two vehicles collided east of the midspan. One was a gray sedan and the other was a white van. A passenger in the van was taken to the hospital and the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP.
Traffic from the East Bay is being diverted to Clawiter Road in Hayward, according to Caltrans. There is no estimated time for the road reopening.
