I commend you for publishing the lengthy guest perspective by the Peninsula Hospital Guardians (San Mateo Daily Journal, Feb. 1) It asks a lot of tough questions and raises issues that need more daylight. Example: the claim that the operators of the hospital were supposed to pay $3 million a year rent, but for 18 years have paid no rent. Those representing the taxpayers allowed the hospital operators to skip rent in lieu of capital improvements.
This is just one sample of what's in that article. It's a wake-up call. Everyone should read it, and attend the meetings to be held before the matter goes on the ballot.
