While I’ve been proud to be an American (at least until recently) and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence has been worth a grand celebration, I hope the nationalistic and jingoistic tones of some can be tempered as we reflect on the fact that we are part of a world, not just a country. The whole world has to work well together for the long term benefit of all.
The bigger question, Mr. Wright, is why those who complain about not being proud to be American still live in America. Those folks are part of a world, not just a country and they’re free to relocate. BTW, the whole world has never worked well together for the long term benefit of all. Unless…you consider the benefit to be that the end of the world that so many have predicted has not come to pass. Perhaps live each day as if it were your last. And get away from the fear-mongering social media posts and fake news and lies mainstream media who are infected with TDS.
Well put Mr. Wright. We have debate about where our nation is heading because we all love our country and want the best for it. We vote with our ballots and not airline tickets. On the world stage, we should be seeking partnerships and work together. The days of imperialism and empire are fading. The adults in the room who want to play by the rules are China, Russia, and Iran, who the rest of the world is increasingly looking to. That's what BRICS is about. They want a UN without the veto power of the US. The US can sit down and sit down and discuss how to cooperate instead of taking the ball and going home. That's what's needed today as a world depression looms.

Good luck, trying to explain that to Trump, as uneducated as he is!
