Editor,
As America approaches the 250th birthday of its founding document, the Declaration of Independence, the declaration’s essential principle — that we are a nation of laws and not of men — is under relentless attack.
Almost daily, Donald Trump asserts his belief that the law does not apply to him. One of the most recent, and brazen, examples is the addendum to the Settlement Agreement that purported to resolve Trump’s “dispute” with the IRS.
Critics have focused on the main Agreement’s establishment of a $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund.” In the face of bipartisan condemnation, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told Congress that the fund was on hold (although he has repeatedly refused to put that commitment in writing, even in the face of a court order).
Notably, the administration has not retreated from the addendum, which is equally, if not more, shocking. It protects the president, his family and his companies forever from any federal prosecution for any potential wrongdoing (tax-related or other) occurring on or before the settlement date.
As a lawyer, I can affirm that this “get out of jail free” card is not normal or legal. It is the latest attempt to put Trump and his cronies above, and out of reach of, the law. I cannot imagine anything more un-American.

Thanks for your letter, Ms. Rosenberg, but I don’t recall reading any of your submitted letters addressing treasonous Biden allowing millions of criminals and terrorists to cross our border. It is amusing that those who profess to be lawyers conveniently cherry-pick who and which criminal activities to give “get out of jail free” cards (like my friend DK hands out to climate conference attendees and their carbon emissions) to, while of course, conveniently forgetting that crossing the border illegally is a crime. I cannot imagine anything more un-American.
Democrats can only blame themselves for running Joe Biden and then Kamala Harris for President. Now it looks like they're headed to nominating a communist for President.

Democrats do seem to selectively remember things, perhaps Arlene you blockheaded out the pardons braindead Joe gave liar Dr. China Fauci, or the pardon his drug addicted filthy pornographic son Hunter received or the pardon for Liz Cheney who lied and hid a fabricated Jan 6 commission report and the other 1,500 pardons given to democrat criminals?
Maybe you also forgot BD Joe ignored the Supreme Court's ruling which ruled Joe couldn't forgive student loans yet Joe did it anyways?
Do you still support mumbling bumbling DOA Joe? Or maybe again you also blockheaded out the fact that Joe wasn't capable of signing his own name so his secretaries and supporters auto penned Joe's name for the 1,500+ pardons? Turns out Joe only hand signed one pardon, but he signed it with a crayon and spilled ice cream on the pardon.
Even though democrats and America haters place judicial speed bumps in Trump's way, he and his administration has fought the judicial activists dressed in black robes with patience and honor while waiting for the Supreme Court to overturn 18 of the left's TDS lawsuits.
