It is good to see such progress after the district established a sad legacy of fiscal mismanagement and personality politics. The Board of Trustees has becoming younger, with parents who are active members of the community.
One of those parents who are active members of the community is Kingsley Ma, who shows great promise as someone who knows the current issues well and seeks stability and better programming for the children of the district.
He is running against longtime board Trustee Jennifer Blanco in Trustee Area 1, who has at times fallen into the behavior of the old board. Years ago, in another era, Blanco stood tall against the aggressive tactics of former board members to bring accountability and representation to her school community.
Those old days are gone, yet, Blanco has carried those traits with her to today when she is proving to be a detriment to professionalism and progress. It would be best to thank her for her dedication to the San Bruno community and move on toward a new day of progress — one that is built on organization, trust and professionalism.
San Bruno Park’s current administration is not without its flaws, and can be better. But things are running much smoother than in years past because of the sheer energy by many involved members of the community working to make it so. And we can imagine a time when it’s even better.
The district, and its community, deserves a fresh start and better future. Ma is part of that future, and deserves your vote.
