WASHINGTON (AP) — Jimmy Carter used to be one of President Donald Trump ’s favorite political targets, a catchall foil for feckless Democrats that he could jeer at to make himself look strong and decisive.

But lately, Trump’s sentiments on the 39th president have become more wistful as he faces some of the same challenges the late Carter did.

Must be a slow news day at the Associated Press. Either that, or Will Weissert drew the short straw and had to write a TDS column on something based on nothing. It is more than hilarious that Mr. Weissert tries to draw a parallel between Carter’s peak inflation rate of 14.7% and Trump’s 4.2%. I’m surprised Mr. Weissert didn’t remind us that Carter was a peanut farmer and Trump is more likely than not to have consumed peanuts. That’s a better comparison than the nonsense inflation comparison. It is even more hilarious when Mr. Weissert reminds us of the “Walk of Fame” and the appropriate descriptors for Obama and Autopen. BTW, Trump does have a Nobel Peace Prize.
