From this little corner of this vast media landscape, it was reported last week that two major political action committees representing corporate interests had committed a combined $380,000 in independent spending to support San Mateo Councilmember Diane Papan and/or oppose Redwood City Councilmember Giselle Hale, two Democrats running in the 21st Assembly District.

Since then, the deluge has begun and it has created a stir in the race to replace Assemblymember Kevin Mullin, who is running for Congress.

Hey Mark, where was your "malicious mailer" outrage back in 2018 when RWC Councilmember Diana Reddy was getting incessantly attacked by the same repulsive groups? Oh, that's right...Councilmember Reddy isn't a member of your chummy, back-slapping political club. You're always so quick to defend Giselle Hale. I wonder why that is?

Your recollection is incorrect. Go back and read what I write run 2018, if you can be bothered. Perhaps your own biases are showing.

Interesting that RWC_Resident's comment is word for word the same as Kris Johnson's post on a Facebook group this morning. Ì did reply to Johnson with a link to the 2018 çolumn but you know what they say, you can lead a man to knowledge but you can't make them think.

Barb! I'm so grateful for you! Always telling it like it is!! 🫶🏼 cheers to you!!

You only covered the issue back in 2018 when your candidates decided to donate the contributions from CAA to a non-profit. The five other mailers weren't enough?

This article seems like a hit piece. I think you should have disclosed both Lee and Bonilla have both endorsed Hale. You should also ask all the candidates to renounce and not single out one candidate. Perhaps a week or two off might be a well deserved disciplinary action by SMDJ.

Yes, those two members of the SM Council endorsed Hale, over their colleague on the SM Council. That should tell you that either they’re VERY impressed with Hale, or find Papan’s work on their Council sub-par, or both.

And their opinions are biased , it also embarrassing that Lee can't come outright and support Corzo for Supervisor. Need to play the political game and endorse both as too not offend the establishment.

You think I should be suspended for two weeks? Wow.

RWC_Resident

How about a two-week "vacation" instead?

My own contribution to Giselle would be part of the sum they’re calling “from big tech”. Sure, I work at Tesla, as a staff engineer. Giselle was a junior exec for product management. Tons of people in this area are well-off but not rich, because we work in the region’s most important industry. A _majority_ of tech employees have serious disagreements with the billionaire management class.

Certainly attention-grabbing, but it really was such a transparent and cheap attack. First of all, former coworkers? Okay. Then you look up who is pushing it: the "California Association of Realtors" and the "California Apartment Association"? A bunch of anti-rent control comical Evil Bad Guys who have successfully pushed me to a vote for Hale.
