With each depressing week, any remaining support for the utterly tarnished tenure of embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus has long since evaporated in a dismal cascade of rejections.

She has become the county’s leading executive leper, shunned and abandoned by all except her few remaining confidants and, of course, her attorneys who are being paid regardless of Corpus’ plunging popularity index.

John Horgan began writing a neighborhood diary at the tender age of 9 in San Mateo. He’s been doing much the same thing as a Peninsula journalist for decades ever since. You can contact him by email at johnhorganmedia@gmail.com.

Thanks for your column today, Mr. Horgan. Unfortunately, we know Ms. Corpus has been backed into a corner with nothing to lose. Most would say her career in public law enforcement is essentially over and all she can hope for now is a payout from San Mateo County. Still an option because San Mateo didn’t take decisive steps to fire Ms. Corpus. Everything is going to the courts so why not have Ms. Corpus challenge her firing? Oh well, the “As the Sheriff’s World Turns” soap opera continues. And don’t worry. This law enforcement mess of historic proportions in this county will forever be remembered in the annals of California, if not the USA.

As for BART or any other tax measure, vote NO. Most of, if not all, the money will go towards paying ever increasing salaries, pensions, and benefits. Let’s see these transit companies practice some fiscal management before giving them more money to burn.

Hi, John

At the end of paragraph 3, I would replace "prominent" with "obstinate."
