• A bill authored by Assemblyman Rich Gordon, D-Menlo Park, allowing Californians to taste-test recycled water in their communities passed both houses of the Legislature and is now awaiting Gov. Jerry Brown’s signature.
Under Assembly Bill 2022, water agencies will be able to distribute small bottles of advanced purified potable reused water for free for educational purposes. Under current law, consumers must visit a water recycling facility in person to drink this reused water, which is often more pure that tap water.
Brown has until Sept. 30 to sign or veto the bill.
