Don't tune into the Super Bowl hoping for a break from politics
WASHINGTON (AP) — The NFL says the federal security presence at the Super Bowl will be consistent with past games and Immigration and Customs Enforcement won't be there. The NFL has faced pressure to take a stance against President Donald Trump's immigration policies ahead of Sunday’s game in the San Francisco Bay Area between Seattle and New England. More than 184,000 people signed a petition urging the league to denounce ICE's potential presence. The liberal group MoveOn planned to deliver the petition to the NFL's New York headquarters. The NFL's chief security officer said Tuesday there are “no planned ICE enforcement activities.” Halftime show headliner Bad Bunny is expected to address the moment. Trump says he doesn't plan to attend.

Don Lemon says a dozen agents came to arrest him even though he offered to turn himself in
Independent journalist Don Lemon says about a dozen federal agents came to his Los Angeles hotel to arrest him last week. Lemon told ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on Monday that the arrest happened even though his attorney told authorities he would turn himself in to face federal civil rights charges. Lemon was indicted last week on federal civil rights charges over his coverage of a Minnesota anti-immigration enforcement protest that disrupted a church service. The Department of Justice didn’t respond to messages seeking comment. The FBI’s Minneapolis office said it would be inappropriate to comment because the case has reached “the adjudication phase.”
Japanese game maker Nintendo reports robust profits on hit Switch 2 console
TOKYO (AP) — Nintendo has reported a 51% rise in profit for the first three quarters of its fiscal year as the Japanese video-game maker continues to score success with its revamped Switch machine. For the April-December period, Kyoto-based Nintendo said Tuesday it recorded a $2.3 billion profit. Its nine-month sales nearly doubled. Switch machines work both as a home console and a portable device. Nintendo, behind the Super Mario and Pokemon franchises, stuck to its profit projection for the fiscal year. It’s expecting to sell 19 million Switch 2 machines during the year. The challenge is whether the company can continue to roll out attractive software to keep the sales momentum going.

'Monster's Paradise,' lampooning US President Donald Trump, has world premiere at Hamburg Opera
HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Tobias Kratzer unveils his world premiere production of “Monster's Paradise,” a satirical opera lampooning U.S. President Donald Trump. The opera, with a libretto by Olga Neuwirth and Elfriede Jelinek, features a gluttonous character called The President-King. Kratzer expressed disbelief at how the satire mirrors reality. The production, inspired by Alfred Jarry’s “Ubu Roi,” includes chorus members dressed as zombies and a Las Vegas-style opening. The President-King, portrayed by Georg Nigl, is opposed by a monster named Gorgonzilla. The opera ends with a humorous yet critical portrayal of power.
