The College of San Mateo women’s basketball team completes first half Coast North Conference women’s basketball play 5 p.m. Wednesday, after sweeping a pair of crossover contests with the top teams in the Coast South last week.
CSM and CCSF share second place at 2-1, behind first half leader Skyline (4-0) – which has defeated both teams.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-1 Coast North, 9-12 overall), downed Coast South Conference pacesetter Hartnell College, 67-59, Friday at College Heights Gymnasium. This after taking care of runner-up Mission College, 62-49, Wednesday in Santa Clara.
Hartnell (3-0 Coast South, 11-9 overall) leads its division with a 3-0 record. Hartnell led 33-32 at the half and 48-46 after three quarters. But CSM ran away in the final period by a 21-11 margin to take the victory. The Lady Bulldogs extended a 61-59 lead with a 3-pointer by Lynn Alapati with 2:32 to play that ignited a final 6-0 run to the end.Â
Tatiana Wilson led a quartet of double-digit scorers with 14 points and Crystal Guerra Herrera had 13 points and eight rebounds. Bree Hodge had 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. Ravyn Martin grabbed 17 rebounds, scored six points and had three assists. Alapati finished with 11 points.
Skyline has already completed first half Coast North play at 4-0 and takes a 15-6 overall record for a 5 p.m. crossover game Wednesday at Monterey Peninsula (0-3 Coast South, 1-17 overall).
Men’s teams wrap up first round of conference play
 Cañada College finishes up the first half of Coast North Conference basketball play at 5 p.m. Wednesday, hosting neighbor College of San Mateo.

Both teams have 2-4 league records to date, sharing fifth place. CSM, at 14-6 overall, is ranked No. 25 in the state coaches’ poll.
Skyline (0-6 Coast North, 8-12 overall) hopes to rebound from a poor January campaign in its 6 p.m. first half finale with third place De Anza (3-3, 9-11). The Trojans suffered narrow 3- and 2-point losses to their county rivals CSM and Cañada, respectively, in recent weeks.
Last week Cañada (8-12 overall) defeated Skyline, 67-65 but saw its brief two-game win streak stepped Friday at Ohlone-Fremont, 82-78, in overtime. CCSF defeated visiting Skyline, 98-56 Friday.
CSM lost to De Anza, 80-75, and then challenged seventh-ranked Las Positas in the first half, one that featured with 11 lead changes, before falling, 70-42. The Bulldogs tallied just 17 points after the intermission. Â
Skyline forward Zidane Auzarang continues to lead the Coast North in scoring, with a 20.7 average, which also ranks among the top 10 in the state. He ranks third in the conference in free throw percentage at 79.9.
Cañada’s Jake Skaggs is second in rebounding at 12.3 per game and third in assists with 82. Isiah Dixon of Skyline is second in field goal percentage (64.3), while DeMarcus Collins of CSM is second in 3-point field goal percentage (43.8).Â
Second-half openers Friday have Cañada at Las Positas at 5 p.m., Ohlone at CSM, and Skyline at Chabot, both at 7 p.m.
