Skyline College rolled to its fifth straight win last Friday 11-6 over Cabrillo College at Trojan Diamond. And, in a rare consensus, the other two San Mateo County community college teams followed suit, as College of San Mateo rallied for a 7-6 home win over Hartnell College, and Cañada College went to extra innings to walk off Gavilan College 8-7.

Skyline (14-3) has to be sad to see February go, posting an 11-1 record through the first full month of the season. Only two teams in the state currently have more than the Trojans’ 14 wins — Fresno City College at 16-1, and Ohlone College at 15-1.
The Trojans rode a seven-run fourth inning past Cabrillo (10-7). Leading 4-2, Skyline sent 12 batters to the plate, with Santino Nanez and Jack Ruegg each recording two-run singles. Ruegg went 3 for 4 with three RBIs out of the leadoff spot, running his current hitting streak to eight games. Batting .492 on the year, Ruegg is hitting at a .633 clip (19 for 30) with 15 RBIs over the hit streak.
Nanez added two hits and three RBIs, while Nick Tobin and Jackson Howard had two hits and two RBIs apiece. Cabrillo leadoff hitter Jayson Schmeisser paced all hitters, going 4 for 5 with an RBI. Skyline starter Anthony Kabrich recorded his first win of the year, allowing two runs on three hits through four innings of work.

Colts walk it off in 10th
After rallying for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie it, Cañada (7-9) walked off Gavilan in Redwood City with a game-winning RBI single from sophomore Matt Lofberg. Sophomore center fielder Stone Daniel-Savage sparked a one-out rally by getting hit by a pitch. Freshman Nate Turkington followed with a double to move Daniel-Savage to third. Then with two outs, Lofberg delivered the game-winner.
Lofberg recorded his first multi-hit game since Jan. 24, going 2 for 5 with an RBI. Sophomore designated hitter Cole Leschak paced the Colts with three hits and an RBI, while Jacob Gilbreath and Mateo Alcantar recorded three hits apiece for Gavilan (7-9). Daniel-Savage connected for a solo home run in the second, his second round-tripper of the season.
