The Peninsula Athletic League Bay and Ocean Divisions open their first full week of league play today and Saturday.
After going 3-1 against the Bay last week in inter-division play, the Ocean division teams showed that it will be a dogfight to the end in determining the championship.
In the Bay, Aragon, Capuchino, Menlo-Atherton and Terra Nova should be fighting it out for Central Coast Section playoff berths.
The following is a look at this weekend's games:
Bay Division
South City at Aragon, 3 p.m.
The Dons (1-2, 1-0 in the Bay) picked up their first win of the season and first league win by exploding for 55 points against an under-manned Jefferson squad.
The move to put backup quarterback Daniel Lopez under center and move starter Robert Gamch to wide receiver appears to have paid off for Aragon. Lopez threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns while Gamch had 104 yards of total offense.
The Aragon defense finally came up with a game to be proud of, holding the Indians to just 269 yards of offense and applying heavy pressure on the Jefferson quarterback all afternoon long.
South City (1-2, 0-1) saw its luck run out against Menlo-Atherton, dropping a disappointing 23-22 decision to a team many expect to contend for the Bay Division title. The South City defense has been doing its job, giving up just over 17 points per game.
Half Moon Bay at Cap, 3 p.m.
Capuchino (1-2) is coming off a disappointing 24-20 loss to Burlingame last week, but the Mustangs have to be encouraged by their non-league performances.
The Mustangs are averaging 29 points per game and have shown that they can run and throw the ball equally effective. Quarterback Chris Arbic threw for over 200 yards in a 41-21 season-opening loss to Saratoga. Running back Fady Salah rushed for over 180 yards and a touchdown against Burlingame.

Half Moon Bay (0-3), which thought it might have easier time making the playoffs playing in the Bay Division, is still looking for its first win.
The Cougars need to pick it up on offense as they are averaging an anemic 11 points per game.
Mills at Jefferson, 7 p.m.
This game is a matchup of the top two Ocean Division teams from a year ago, only this time they will face off in a Bay Division tilt.
Both teams are coming off losses, but it is Jefferson (0-3 overall, 0-1 Bay) that is in most need of a good result. In three games the Indians are giving up an average of 45 points per game while scoring less than 10.
Mills (0-3) started out strong in a 42-15 loss to San Mateo to open the season. Quarterback Dan Lloyd and Jeff Acosta combined to pass for 239 yards.
They combined to throw for only 18 yards in the their second game, a 34-7 loss to Burlingame, but saw some improvement last week in a 13-7 loss to Carlmont. Lloyd was a perfect 10-for-10 for 83 yards and a touchdown.
Ocean Division
Menlo vs. Carlmont at Sequoia, 7 p.m.
Menlo (2-1 overall, 0-1 Ocean) suffered its first defeat of the season last week, and it was most costly. The Knights were one of four teams to open Ocean Division play last week and were drilled 25-0 by El Camino.
The shutout skewed their season numbers. After averaging 20.5 points in wins over Lynbrook (20-14) and Lick (21-0), the Knights saw their average dip to 13.6.
Carlmont (2-1) is coming off its second-straight win, beating Mills last week 13-7. The Scots have shown that it can play tenacious defense, giving up only a touchdown to Mills, or can score in bunches
