Editor,

Thank you, Mark Simon, for highlighting the upcoming DA election in San Mateo County. Personally, I have had enough of Steve Wagstaffe and his office’s unwillingness to prosecute and create a credible deterrent to the increasing violence that we see on our streets.

Positions that require politicians create a huge problem.

Anyone who needs to be elected can also be bought. And who has more money, influence, lobbying power than the combination of fossil fuel, automobile industries, and now technology companies.

All of them are highly interested that damages caused by their cars (ICE and EVs) don't come back to their pocket but are paid for by the public.

The yearly cost and damages caused by cars and drivers is higher than the revenue they make. This is negative business for the country and the taxpayers.

Only politicians, lobbyists and these companies can succeed.

A driver killed coach Greg Knapp while biking. They had the driver, he had a history of violence, he admitted to being distracted, they let him walk because "lack of evidence".

Mike needs to go back to the law school I assume he never attended and re-take Criminal Law.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Swire, but if Democrats put the welfare of criminals and terrorists over the American people, why would they pay more attention to those killed by drivers or anyone else? Where’s the justice for American people? I would like to see a DA and Democrats begin caring more about Americans than criminals and terrorists. San Mateo residents who have lost family members or have been affected by invaders to our country deserve justice, just as much as anyone killed, whether by car or anything else. Will any DA commit to that? If not, expect the status quo to continue.
