Editor,
Three days ago, I stopped at a four-way stop at intersection of Orange and Commercial avenues,
South San Francisco. A Waymo car on my left pulled up to stop. As I was there first, I started my left turn and Waymo almost hit me before I finished my turn.
If the driverless car had hit me, there are no cameras there to verify who is at fault.
I called the South San Francisco Police Department to find out who is responsible for these cars to “practice” in dense populated neighborhoods. I was told that the Public Utilities Commission authorizes these in San Mateo County with phone number to call. No call back.
Stephen Colbert in a monologue recently said, “they are planning on driving passengers on the freeway, there are going to be Waymo accidents.”
It is bad enough when a person plows through a stop sign when not their turn, a “California” stop and no one wants to take any action regarding the lack of safety of driverless cars versus real persons.

How is this described situation any different or safer with human drivers?
