I am genuinely curious as to why anyone in California would think Gavin Newsom is a worthy candidate for our next president.
As a lifelong resident, all I have seen during his rise to governor is disaster. He started with a budget surplus, and has turned it into tens of billions of dollars in debt. Billions have been wasted on the high-speed rail and to combat homelessness. Well, the rail isn’t close to completion with ballooning costs and homelessness is worse than ever. Let’s also not forget his smug attitude toward us normal folks. Does he think we forgot about him and his cronies dining at the French Laundry during COVID while the rest of us were locked down and couldn’t even visit sick loved ones in the hospital?
So, I’d really like to hear some answers as to why people will vote for him, other than the letter next to his name.
Thanks for your letter, Mr. Guttenbeil. I’d say folks will vote for Newsom knowing he will reward them. Which means union labor and any special interest groups will support him if they need something. In fact, some have attempted to bypass publicity by contributing to Ms. Newsom’s pet causes to get Newsom to do their bidding. Until voters decide they’ve suffered enough, voters get the government they deserve.
